Prior to elected office, Ms. Sink had a 26 year career with Bank of America. She retired as President of Florida operations in 2000, managing the state’s largest bank with $40 billion in deposits, leading 9,000 employees in over 800 branches.
Today, Alex Sink serves as Chair for Florida Next Foundation and as Senior Advisor with Tampa -based Hyde Park Capital. As a statewide business leader, Ms. Sink has served as chair of Leadership Florida, chair of Take Stock in Children, chair of The Nature Conservancy-Florida chapter, vice chair of Florida Taxwatch, executive board member of the Florida Council of 100, chair of the Hillsborough Education Foundation, chair of the United Way of Hillsborough County and vice chair of the board at Wake Forest University. She also served on the board of the Division of Bond Finance as one of three trustees of the Florida Retirement System, a $120 billion pension fund.
Her honors include induction in the Tampa Bay Business Hall of Fame, Jewish National Fund Tree of Life Award, Associated Industries of Florida Champion of Business Award, Florida Chamber of Commerce Volunteer of the Year and Wake Forest Distinguished Alumnus Award. In 2010, she was the Democratic nominee for Florida governor.
